Street Fighter 2 makes use of many different types of control, including the classic joysticks and movement wheels used in earlier arcade and PC fighting games. The entire game is quite challenging, but is also beautifully drawn with excellent artwork. The player must assist him in mastering new moves, mastering special attacks, learning how to perform special moves and mastering various strategies in order to complete the game and win. The story told in Street Fighter 2 is based on the fact that a young man from the streets of New York (SF2) has been transformed into a powerful, almost invincible force by his master, whom he has to defeat again. The popularity of Street Fighter 2 is attributed to its unique ability to be able to utilise special attacks not seen on any previous versions of the game, as well as its exciting, fast pace and colourful, eye-popping artwork. It was one of the first games to adopt a "light engine", which allowed the player to use special techniques and special attacks by pressing a button on the keyboard rather than relying on a joystick or other continuous motion control.
Street Fighter 2 is an extremely popular competitive online fighting game developed and released by CAPcom in 1990 for various home computer operating systems and later ported to several different gaming platforms throughout the years.
